King Charles III of the United Kingdom is scheduled to visit Washington, D.C. next month in his first state visit since taking the throne in 2022.

King Charles III is expected to visit the United States in the last week of April, during which he will address a joint meeting of Congress. The specific date and time of the address have not yet been announced.

This will be the first time a British royal has addressed Congress since 1991, when Queen Elizabeth II, Charles’ late mother, became the first British monarch to speak before the United States’ House of Representatives.

House Republican leadership announced on Monday that the lower chamber will be in session during the week of April 27th, making a change to the original timeline.

Charles’ itinerary is also expected to included a state dinner at the White House, as well as a day trip to New York City. During his visit, he is reportedly set to pay his respects at the Nation 9/11 Memorial & Museum in Lower Manhattan.

Trump visited London in September, marking his second state visit to the country, his first since Charles III ascended the throne and since he began his second term. He and First Lady Melania Trump were welcomed at Windsor Castle with an honor guard and a flyover by the Red Arrows. They also enjoyed a state banquet in St. George’s Hall and a wreath-laying at Queen Elizabeth II’s tomb in St. George’s Chapel.
