Pam Bondi has responded to President Donald Trump’s decision to replace her as U.S. Attorney General, marking the end of her 14-month tenure at the Department of Justice (DOJ) as she transitions to the private sector.

In a statement on X Thursday afternoon, Bondi confirmed that U.S. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche will temporarily replace her, and that she’ll be stepping into a new role in the private sector. Bondi also went on to list some of her achievements while she led the Justice Department.

“Over the next month I will be working tirelessly to transition the office of Attorney General to the amazing Todd Blanche before moving to an important private sector role I am thrilled about, and where I will continue fighting for President Trump and this Administration,” Bondi wrote.

Both Bondi and Trump’s statements appear to emphasize goodwill toward each other, with no “bad blood,” despite surfacing insider reports and swirling speculation about a fractured relationship — in light of the change in personnel.

On his Truth Social platform earlier in the day, Trump labeled Bondi a “Great American Patriot and a loyal friend.”

She characterized her time in office, since her swearing-in in February 2025, as “easily the most consequential first year of the Department of Justice in American history.”

“Since February 2025, we have secured the lowest murder rate in 125 years, secured first-ever terrorism convictions against members of Antifa, shattered domestic and transnational gangs across the country, taken custody of more than 90 key cartel figures, and won 24 favorable rulings at the Supreme Court,” she said.

“I remain eternally grateful for the trust that President Trump placed in me to Make America Safe Again,” Bondi added, referencing Trump’s famous “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) campaign slogan.

Blanche, who became Deputy Attorney General in March 2025, has already reportedly been moved to the Attorney General’s suite as of Thursday afternoon. The White House has not yet named a permanent replacement, but is expected to provide further details in the coming days.
