President Donald Trump said Tuesday that the United States knows exactly where Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei is “hiding,” warning that “our patience is wearing thin.”
“We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post. “He is an easy target, but is safe there—We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now. But we don’t want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin.”
Trump in a separate post also called for Iran’s “unconditional surrender.”
The remarks come as the Trump administration is weighing a U.S. strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, especially its underground uranium enrichment site in Fordow. Trump is meeting Tuesday afternoon with his national security team in the Situation Room to decide whether the United States will join Israel’s campaign against the Islamic Republic, U.S. officials told Axios.
Trump returned early from the G7 summit on Monday, saying on Air Force One overnight that he is not interested in a “ceasefire” but a “real end” to Iran’s nuclear program.
“We now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran,” Trump wrote Tuesday on Truth Social. “Iran had good sky trackers and other defensive equipment, and plenty of it, but it doesn’t compare to American made, conceived, and manufactured ‘stuff.’ Nobody does it better than the good ol’ USA.”
