From Immigration to the Autopen, Trump Targets Biden’s Legacy

The shooting of two National Guard members the day before Thanksgiving by a foreign national was bound to cause a broad backlash. Thursday’s response was only the beginning. President Donald Trump effectively declared war on the mass migration of the Biden era and his predecessor’s legacy in general.

Trump Turns Off the Tap

At 11 p.m. local time, as Thanksgiving day drew to a close, President Trump dropped a 510-word post on social media. “The official United States Foreign population stands at 53 million people (Census), most of which are on welfare, from failed nations, or from prisons, mental institutions, gangs, or drug cartels,” the president wrote. “They and their children are supported through massive payments from Patriotic American Citizens who, because of their beautiful hearts, do not want to openly complain or cause trouble in any way, shape, or form.”

“As an example, hundreds of thousands of refugees from Somalia are completely taking over the once great State of Minnesota,” he continued. “Somalian gangs are roving the streets looking for ‘prey’ as our wonderful people stay locked in their apartments and houses hoping against hope that they will be left alone.”

His answer to the problem:

“I will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries to allow the U.S. system to fully recover, terminate all of the millions of Biden illegal admissions, including those signed by Sleepy Joe Biden’s Autopen, and remove anyone who is not a net asset to the United States, or is incapable of loving our country, end all Federal benefits and subsidies to noncitizens of our Country, denaturalize migrants who undermine domestic tranquility, and deport any Foreign National who is in a public charge, security risk, or non-compatible with Western Civilization.”

There’s so much to unpack in that single paragraph alone – first and foremost, the immigration freeze. Earlier in the day, Thursday, President Trump announced his administration would be seriously reconsidering whether to continue allowing immigration from almost two-dozen foreign nations, including Afghanistan, the home country of DC shooting suspect Rahmanullah Lakanwal.

On Friday, US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Director Joseph Edlow announced via X that a “permanent pause” on all migration from “third world countries” would be in place “until we can ensure that every alien is vetted and screened to the maximum degree possible.

According to the agency’s new guidance, officers can continue to work on asylum applications up to the point of making a decision. At that point, they are to stop and hold. That way, at least, if the asylum program does start up again, the process can be picked back up after a brief review.

Now what about that denaturalization and deportation bit? Can a naturalized American lose citizenship and be sent packing? Under current immigration law, the answer is yes. Under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) section 340, naturalized citizens can face denaturalization if it is proven that citizenship was obtained through fraud, concealment of material facts, or certain acts like treason or joining groups to overthrow the government.

One could make a strong argument that anyone not properly vetted during the Biden asylum flood qualifies for denaturalization. That’s certainly the approach President Trump is taking, anyway.

Also on Friday afternoon, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced on X that the US Treasury is “working to cut off federal benefits to illegal aliens and preserve them for U.S. citizens.” This includes the most commonly thought of forms of welfare – food, health care, and housing assistance – but it also includes several tax breaks like the Earned Income Tax Credit, the Additional Child Tax Credit, the American Opportunity Tax Credit, and the Saver’s Match Credit. As well, many illegals receive free health care and free or low-cost housing.

Biden’s Autopen Apocalypse

President Trump announced in a Truth Social post on Friday that he’s terminating all documents he believes were signed by autopen without Joe Biden’s knowledge. “The Autopen is not allowed to be used if approval is not specifically given by the President of the United States,” Trump wrote. “The Radical Left Lunatics circling Biden around the beautiful Resolute Desk in the Oval Office took the Presidency away from him.”

The president’s latest step toward undoing the Biden administration is tied to the larger immigration issue and the shooting in DC, as demonstrated by the Thanksgiving night post. “I will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries to allow the U.S. system to fully recover, terminate all of the millions of Biden illegal admissions, including those signed by Sleepy Joe Biden’s Autopen,” he wrote. But it also follows Attorney Pam Bondi’s probe into allegations of a digital autopen being used to sign pardons and other executive orders in response to an October 28 House Oversight Committee Report titled “The Biden Autopen Presidency: Decline, Delusion, and Deception in the White House.”

Trump said he’s canceling all executive orders and “anything else that was not directly signed by Crooked Joe Biden, because the people who operated the Autopen did so illegally.” How many documents is that? According to the Trump administration, it’s something like 92% of everything bearing Biden’s signature.

Joe Biden signed – or allegedly signed – 162 executive orders as well as hundreds of memoranda, proclamations, and notices. As for the former president, Trump said that if his predecessor claims he did know of and approve all the autopen signatures, the DOJ will charge him with perjury. If successful, President Trump will erase much of Biden’s legacy – or the legacy of whoever actually made the decisions, if not Biden himself.
