‘Don’t let the door hit you on the way out!’
University of Wisconsin fans were delighted to read the Washington Free Beacon‘s scoop about their school’s chancellor, Jennifer Mnookin, leaving her job to become president of Columbia University. Appreciators of college football and other normal American pursuits were particularly excited to learn that Mnookin was taking her “talents” elsewhere, according to a Free Beacon analysis of Wisconsin-themed social media commentary.

Wisconsin Badgers fans are understandably concerned with the direction of the football program on Mnookin’s watch. Once a perennial Big Ten powerhouse, Wisconsin has gone 23-28 since Mnookin took over as chancellor in 2022, and just 9-15 over the past two years. In 2024 and 2025, the Badgers recorded consecutive losing seasons for the first time in more than three decades. Whereas most Americans enjoy watching high-quality college football, Mnookin seemed to have other priorities. In 2023, a local ice cream shop named a flavor after her. “Mnookie Dough” blended vanilla ice cream with “chunks of cookie dough and swirls of fudge and caramel.”
Mnookin was generally regarded as a typical liberal academic who hated sports almost as much as she loved apologizing for racism. In her previous role as dean of UCLA School of Law, she joined Black Lives Matter protesters in denouncing America’s “shameful history of institutionalized racism.” At the University of Wisconsin, Mnookin negotiated with anti-Israel agitators whose support for Hamas terrorists she described as “motivated by understandably passionate feelings.”
Alas, Mnookin’s concessions were evidently not sufficient to appease the left-wing radicals, many of whom viewed the news of her departure as a tragedy—for Columbia. “She’s cool with shutting down free speech to do her part in the genocide against Palestinians,” one commenter wrote on Reddit. “Perfect for Columbia.” Another suggested that students would “miss her ice cream more than we will miss her.”
Other left-wing accounts expressed their “passionate feelings” about Israel by noting that Mnookin was Jewish. “What a shocker that the Zionist dean is going to be dean of the most Zionist school,” one wrote. “As a UWLaw grad who had to watch her suppress our first amendment rights – may she fuck off in peace.”
Good luck to all!
