Turning Point USA has announced its highly anticipated lineup for the All-American Halftime Show, positioning itself as a rival to the NFL’s headliner Super Bowl LX halftime performance by Bad Bunny at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
The event, titled “The All-American Halftime Show,” is scheduled to air around 8 p.m. EST on February 8th and will feature performances by Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett.
“We’re approaching this show like David and Goliath,” Kid Rock said in a statement Monday. “Competing with the pro football machine and a global pop superstar is almost impossible…or is it?”
The NFL sparked backlash online in late September after announcing Puerto Rican-born singer Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, better known as Bad Bunny, as its Super Bowl halftime headliner. Some conservative commentators and fans have pledged to boycott the broadcast during this weekend’s Seahawks-Patriots game in protest of the selection.
In response, Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point USA (TPUSA) unveiled its own Super Bowl halftime show centered on faith, freedom, and family.
“The All-American Halftime Show is an opportunity for all Americans to enjoy a halftime show with no agenda other than to celebrate faith, family, and freedom,” TPUSA spokesman Andrew Kolvet said in a statement. “We can’t wait to watch the incredible show they’re about to put on. We know millions around the country will be watching too.”
Bad Bunny continues to receive criticism from football fans as he prepares to headline the show on Sunday night, with President Donald Trump calling the NFL’s decision to book him as the halftime performer “absolutely ridiculous.”
“I don’t know who he is,” Trump stated. “I don’t know why they’re doing it. It’s crazy. And then they blame it on some promoter they hired to pick up entertainment. I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”
The 31-year-old singer is expected to perform while, sources say, highlighting a liberal message by wearing a dress and honoring Puerto Rican queer icons and drag culture.
“He loves controversy. He lives to push envelopes,” a stylist involved in Bunny’s wardrobe reportedly stated. “He is 100% going to wear a dress. A political thunderbolt disguised as couture.”
One America News will be airing Turning Point’s All-American Halftime Show on February 8th.
