President Donald Trump has weighed in on the Cracker Barrel controversy sweeping the nation, calling the Tennessee-based restaurant chain’s recent logo redesign a “mistake.”
On Tuesday, Trump took to Truth Social to share his thoughts and to give the company some advice.
“Cracker Barrel should go back to the old logo, admit a mistake based on customer response (the ultimate Poll), and manage the company better than ever before. They got a Billion Dollars worth of free publicity if they play their cards right. Very tricky to do, but a great opportunity. Have a major News Conference today. Make Cracker Barrel a WINNER again. Remember, in just a short period of time I made the United States of America the “HOTTEST” Country anywhere in the World. One year ago, it was “DEAD.” Good luck!” Trump wrote.

The restaurant chain’s logo redesign is part of the company’s $700 million modernization plan. The money will also go towards updating the restaurant interiors and providing new menu offerings.
On their website, Cracker Barrel issued a statement addressing the new logo and why they chose to forgo the classic illustration of a man known as Uncle Herschel for a simplified text-only logo.
“We love seeing how much you care about our ‘old timer.’ We love him too. Uncle Herschel will still be on our menu (welcome back Uncle Herschel’s Favorite Breakfast Platter), on our road signs and featured in our country store. He’s not going anywhere — he’s family.”
Since the restaurant chain has replaced its logo, Cracker Barrel has lost almost $100 million in market value.
Cracker Barrel’s stock price dropped $4.22 on Thursday, a 7.2% decline, ending the day at $54.80 per share. That fall wiped out about $94 million from the company’s overall value. Earlier in the day, the stock went as low as $50.27, which at that point meant the company had temporarily lost nearly $200 million in value.
