Nancy Pelosi Plants Absurd Conspiracy Theory About the 2026 Election

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi floated the possibility on Tuesday that Republicans might try to hack into election systems to change the outcome of the 2026 midterm elections.

That’s rich coming from a leader in the Democratic Party who chastised the GOP for questioning the integrity of the 2020 presidential election.

You’ll recall that Democratic election officials in 2020, without the approval of their state legislatures, made all kinds of last-minute election rule and procedural changes regarding mail-in ballots and due dates, among other matters, in key swing states like Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin, which gave Americans reason to question the reliability of the election results.

ABC News/Ipsos polling found in January 2021 that just 37 percent were very confident in the election system, which dropped to 20 percent by January 2022.

Presently, Pelosi, without providing any evidence, is suggesting a reason why Democrats may question the 2026 midterm elections.

Pelosi told MS Now’s Ali Vitali regarding the upcoming midterms, “We always have concerns, but with this president and these Republicans, who have no commitment to the rule of law and doing things the appropriate way, we’re ready.”

“We have to be on guard as to what they may try to do to the technology. They may try to creep into the technology and create a false count,” Pelosi argued.

If history is any guide, Democrats have a very good chance of winning back control of the House in November.

Traditionally, the party not holding the White House gains seats in the legislature. The Democrats picked up 40 in the House in 2018 during President Donald Trump’s first term. The Republicans gained 60 seats in 2010, when Barack Obama was president.

Some exceptions to the general rule of the president’s party losing seats were 2002, when Republicans gained eight members, when George W. Bush was president in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

The Democrats picked up five House seats during President Bill Clinton’s second term in 1998, and the party picked up nine seats in 1934 during Franklin Roosevelt’s first term. But many of the other midterms saw gains for the party not holding the White House.

So Republicans being able to increase their House majority of 218 to 215 is possible, but it will be a challenge.

However, an average of the generic ballot polls shows Democrats with a 47.3 percent to 41.7 percent advantage over Republicans.

Axios reported last November that Democrats had a 14-point lead in the NPR/PBS News Marist Poll survey looking toward the midterms, 55-41 percent. In other words, much can change over the next several months.

Pelosi, no doubt, understands that too, and is giving her party an out and a reason to “resist” if they come up short.

Interestingly, it was primarily Democrats raising the alarm about cyber attacks going into the 2020 election in the HBO documentary “Kill Chain: the Cyber War on America’s Elections.”

But when the election results favored Joe Biden and the Democrats, suddenly, the machine counts were to be trusted without question, despite major discrepancies being uncovered when handcounts were conducted in places like Michigan and Georgia. Election officials in those instances said human error was to blame.

The takeaway is that machine tallies need to be verified with paper backups and random audits of various precincts, at a minimum. Ideally, we should go all the way back to hand-counting paper ballots, as other countries have.

But for Pelosi to suggest that Republicans will hack the election to win is just another iteration of the Democrats’ “Russia, Russia, Russia” during Trump’s first term.

Remember, she tweeted regarding the 2016 presidential race, “Our election was hijacked. There is no question. Congress has a duty to #ProtectOurDemocracy & #FollowTheFacts.”

It was all just Democrat subterfuge to undermine Trump’s legitimacy as president. Pelosi is apparently preparing the ground again for the possibility of another Democrat “hijack.”
